Nuapada Nutri Rice Cluster, located at Khariar, District Nuapada, Odisha. The project was approved under SFURTI scheme of department of MSME, Government of India on February 8, 2022. The cluster comprises of 23 villages and involves 1,042 farmers from different panchayats such as Sinapalli, Boden, Nuapada, Komna, Khariar, and Boden blocks. Its primary objective is to improve agricultural practices in Nuapada district through the application of modern scientific methods.Various agencies are involved in this cluster such as IMEDF, Delhi as the Nodal Agency, Inquisit Consultants LLP as the Technical Agency, Lokadrusti as the Implementing Agency and Unchin Foundation acts as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to establish and run the cluster for the benefit of the farmers.

The cluster will engage in paddy procurement from local farmers for processing of Nutri Rice and provide them with training, exposure, handholding, and coaching to enhance cultivation techniques. The focus of the cluster is on the production of nine rice-based products, including eight based on Protein rice, and one each based on Black rice and Anti-Diabetic Rice, which in turn will increase the farmers’ income, livelihood, sustainability, and regional growth. Cluster as processing area covers 18,000 square feet, housing a 2,000-square-foot training hall and office building, and a 20,000-square-foot paddy storage godown.
