Farmers Training on Best Advanced Practices of Protein Rice Cultivation Method

In February 2022, a Farmers Training program focused on Best Advanced Practices for Protein Rice Cultivation was conducted at Morgaon GP, with participation from 42 members. The training was led by two KVK scientists: Laba Soren from KBK Nuapada and Miss Uma Pradhan, P.A. (Seed Science & Technology). This initiative was organized by Unchin Foundation (SPV) in collaboration with Lokadrusti (IA), and attended by farmers from the Panchayats of Domjhar, IPO, and CDE. The primary goals of the program included: - Exploring innovations and current trends in rice production. - Understanding the significance of rice research and the development and release of rice varieties. - Implementing sustainable practices in rice cultivation. - Utilizing SRP instruments, with an emphasis on the SRP Standard and Performance Indicators, and their interconnections to promote sustainable rice farming. Collecting data and assessing compliance with SRP Standard requirements among farmers. This program encompassed all essential aspects of rice cultivation, from land preparation to post-harvest processes. Participants engaged in discussions about best practices, innovations, and emerging trends in rice production. The course incorporated modules from the Sustainable Rice Platform’s Driving Sustainable Rice Cultivation, focusing on the SRP Standard and Performance Indicators. It is a comprehensive learning experience aimed at helping participants understand the advantages of sustainable rice farming, clarify the SRP Standards for rice cultivation, and facilitate data collection and assessment to ensure adherence to SRP performance indicators.
